David Lawrence is an internationally published photographer based in Dallas. A graduate of Yale University, Mr. Lawrence has studied with legendary photographers Walker Evans, Jay Maisel, and Art Kane. His specialty is 35mm digital photography on location, but he is well-versed in equipment up to 4x5. Mr. Lawrence has been making pictures since childhood, and built his first darkroom when only 8. In business in Dallas for over 25 years, he still has many of his earliest clients. David Lawrence is known for his superb work as a photographic colorist, his ability to extract relaxed portraits from difficult subjects, and his advanced digital skills. But he knows that image quality alone is not enough to service a client. For years he has built a reputation as a person to work with, both because of his friendly nature, and his dedication to his clients and their needs.

Mr. Lawrence came from a family steeped in the arts. His grandfather owned the first art gallery in Dallas. His father studied painting in Paris in the '30's. His mother painted portraits, and her brother was an internationally known abstract-expressionist painter. In a family of artists, Lawrence found that he could not even draw. But with the advent of digital photography and image manipulation, he discovered that he could use these tools to create wonderful, indeed painterly, images from digital photographs. His self-invented style of Digital Painting, still evolving, transforms photographs into images of lasting beauty and interest.

David Lawrence is a member of ASMP, the American Society of Media Photographers, and PPA, Professional Photograpers of America.
